Welcome to the Jewish Museum
The Museum maintains a unique collection of nearly 30,000 works of fine art, Judaica, antiquities, folk art, ceremonial objects, and broadcast media which reflect the global Jewish experience over more than 4,000 years. Our distinguished exhibition history reveals a deep and rich exploration of Jewish culture and identity, and includes some of the most seminal shows of the 20th and 21st centuries. Our dynamic education programs – from talks and lectures, to performances, to hands-on art making and more – serve a wide range of audiences, including families, students, educators, and art lovers.

The Jewish Museum, one of the world’s preeminent institutions devoted to exploring art and Jewish culture, from ancient to contemporary, was founded in 1904 in the library of The Jewish Theological Seminary, where it was housed for more than four decades. The Jewish Museum was the first institution of its kind in the United States and is the oldest existing Jewish museum in the world.

Judge Mayer Sulzberger1 donated the first gift of 26 objects of fine and ceremonial art to the library of The Jewish Theological Seminary with the suggestion that a Jewish museum be formed. Subsequent gifts and purchases have helped to form the Museum’s distinguished permanent collection, one of the largest and most important of its kind in the world.

In 1944, Frieda Schiff Warburg2, widow of the prominent businessman and philanthropist Felix Warburg3, who had been a Seminary trustee, donated the family mansion4 at 1109 Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street to the Seminary for use as a museum. Located along New York City's Museum Mile, and designed in the French Gothic chateau-style by architect Charles P.H. Gilbert, the original building was completed in 1908, and has been the home of the Museum since 1947.

A sculpture court was installed alongside the Mansion in 1959, and the Albert A. List Building was added in 1963 to provide additional exhibition and program space. In 1989, a major expansion and renovation project was undertaken; upon completion in June 1993, the expansion doubled the Museum’s gallery space, created new space for educational programs, provided significant improvements in public amenities, and added a two-floor permanent collection exhibition called Culture and Continuity: The Jewish Journey, which tells the unfolding story of Jewish culture and identity through 800 works of art.

Today, the Jewish Museum presents a diverse schedule of internationally acclaimed temporary exhibitions while maintaining a collection of nearly 30,000 objects reflecting global Jewish identity – paintings, sculpture, works on paper, photographs, ethnographic material, archaeological artifacts, numismatics, ceremonial objects, and broadcast media.

מעדניה, קפה, חנות מכולת.
Eighty Years, and 3 generations later, Zabar's family business is still going strong.
Our father and mother, Louis and Lillian Zabar, started the business
back in 1934, opening a 22-foot-wide shop along NYC’s Broadway at West 80th Street. Louis was a real stickler for quality, roasting his own coffee, and personally visiting smokehouses to sample and inspect the fish – rejecting far more than he accepted.
The principles and practices of our founder and father continue to guide us: Respect the customer. Never, ever stint on quality. Offer fair value. And last but not least, keep searching for the new and wonderful.
Without question, this last point has accounted for some memorable moments. Back in the 1960’s, we introduced New York to Brie, in the ‘70’s we brought them sun-dried tomatoes and gnocchi, and in the ‘80’s, we got so excited about caviar – and wanted everyone to taste it – that our prices set off a so-called “Caviar War”. (Incidentally, we won.)
Over the years, the business kept growing, and today we span practically the entire block front. With our sons, daughters and their cousins, we’re still at it – hand-slicing meltingly delicious smoked fish behind our deli counter…offering tastes of the latest artisanal cheeses…setting out fresh-baked batches of rugelach (it’s our Bubbe’s recipe)…overseeing the roasting of our special coffee blends (we sell 400,000 pounds a year!) Retire? Not on your life – we’re having too much fun!
As Louis taught us, to succeed as a family business, you have to love each other, and love the business – in our case, great food, great service, great prices, great folks. We ask you, what’s not to love?!
Here’s to another 80 years, and then some! Heartfelt thanks for your patronage.

Our Store On Broadway
Zabar's has to be experienced, in person, to truly be understood. You have to see the crowds, hear the banter of our sales help, smell the croissants baking, admire the rich brown hues of our coffee, sample cheese from every corner of the world, enjoy the beauty of hand sliced nova, walk upstairs and see the largest selection of imported copper cookware anywhere… it really is a one of a kind adventure.

FIVE STARS for carrying gluten-free matzah* and for setting aside a box for you when you call in advance…FIVE STARS for convenience (right next door to Atara's, across the street from Canter's, spitting distance from Ball Beauty Supply and Out Of The Closet), FIVE STARS for selling cardamom Turkish coffee, FIVE STARS for feeling like a homey neighborhood joint, if your neighborhood is old-school Angeleno frum.
*Shmura, imported from England, and so expensive it might make you reconsider your definition of mitzvah for a second or two…I'm just saying.

Food in deli is good. Moroccan carrots and moroccan fish are my favorites. Sushi to go was good too.
Produce section is small (you can get fruits and veggies anywhere though).
Aisles can be small so watch out for other customers, especially just before the holidays when this place can get busy.
Good for Passover! They clear the store of anything that can't be eaten during the holiday so you don't have to worry about buying the wrong thing.
They have their own parking lot!

Great place for kosher. If you are buying meat, make sure to talk to Katz — he knows everything about cooking and will share some great ideas if you just ask:) Friendly family-run store.

This place has a great selection of kosher meats, and love that you can order in advance. Wish they sold some basic produce, and wish they were open later. Other than that, it's clean and quick

Great selection of Kosher foods not found in other markets and guys in butcher dept super helpful for those of us who have no clue about cooking meats…

Our Story
It all started in the 50s… Would you believe we started out as a small chain of convenience stores? It’s true. Way back in 1958. We were called Pronto Markets. In ‘67, our founder, the original Trader Joe, changed our name (yes, to Trader Joe’s) and the way we do business.
We made the stores bigger (if you can imagine), decked the walls with cedar planks and donned our crew in cool Hawaiian shirts. Most importantly, we started packaging innovative, hard-to-find, great-tasting foods under the “Trader Joe’s” name. That cut our costs and saved you money. Still does. And that’s important, because “Value” is a concept we take very seriously. And by ‘Value,’ we mean great everyday prices on all of our great products — no sales, no gimmicks, no clubs to join, no special cards to swipe… How do we do it?
We buy direct from suppliers whenever possible, we bargain hard to get the best price, and then pass the savings on to you.
If an item doesn’t pull its weight in our stores, it goes away to gangway for something else.
We buy in volume and contract early to get the best prices.
Most grocers charge their suppliers fees for putting an item on the shelf. This results in higher prices… so we don’t do it.
We keep our costs low — because every penny we save is a penny you save.
It’s not complicated. We just focus on what matters — great food + great prices = Value.
Okay, we skipped over a few milestones, but you can catch them in the Trader Joe’s Timeline. It’s a trip.

My name is Robby Lasman and together with my wife and best partner Tzippi, we own G.I.T USA Inc. Our story is a true story of entrepreneurship; after loosing my job in Israel as a marketing consultant because of the deteriorating economy in Israel, I started to sell health and natural foods to stores in Israel. Soon after starting selling, some Israeli manufacturers that I worked with received invitations to participate in fairs in the US to help the Israeli economy. They offered to me the option to go and represent them in those fairs.
After few visits to the US, I decided to relocate to the US with my wife and our 3 lovely daughters so that we can sell the products we had directly to the retailers. We had a small budget when we started and no support or financial backing from any entity. It was me and my wife Tzippi who did all the hard work of introducing new products into the very competitive US food markets.

Our mission is to bring the best selling and most unique, diverse, kosher natural and gourmet foods to the American consumer. We will constantly work very hard to improve our customer service and deal with our customers in an honest, effective and friendly way to the best of our abilities. We strive to grow our business through word of mouth of existing happy customers and search of new customers. Our goal is to continuously bring new up to date reasonable priced new food products to our customers so they can in turn grow their business as well and be happy with us.
Tahini is a traditional Middle Eastern spread made of finely-ground sesame seeds. Similar to Hummus in consistency and color, Tahini is often served together with hummus as a dip for pita or vegetables. In fact, Tahini is alsa a key ingredient in hummus itself, infusing its flavor with a distinct hint of earthy grain.
Al Arz Tahini is made solely of sesame seeds: no preservatives, additives, or food coloring. At the same time, the product has a shelf life of an entire year, no refrigeration required. Rather than buying ready made, refrigerated Tahini, the customer can keep a jar of Al Arz in the pantry, making the desired amount by adding water, lemon juice, and herbs or spices according to the personal taste. Convenient, affordable, individualized, and Kosher by Badatz Ha'eda Ha'haredith Yerushalaim certification, our Tahini is the ideal snack for all lovers of the Middle Eastern flavor.

Great variety of kosher foods. Free ground shipping orders over $100.

בקורת:

Aviglatt is just the perfect website for kosher food! It's warm and friendly, but the food selection is also of the best quality, with lots of options to choose between for all family members. I made a pretty big purchase for Rosh Hashana (fish, meat, challah etc..) and it arrived quickly.

Why say old food I think u just jelous or u owe store around there I buy there almost everyday no complain the sweet ppl

It’s pretty much true that not everyone knows where to find the best kosher food from US suppliers. I personally prefer to buy kosher food from an established website such as this one. The Aviglatt store has such a great selection! There are so many products here that it is easy to lose time just looking at all the great foods and interesting alternatives available! we live in an area with a just a few options (to say the least…) for nice kosher products so Aviglatt was a really good solution for us.

I picked up fine kosher meat and cheese for our party in Jersey. I had the rest shipped next day… everything went great. Thx.

I always buy my kosher foods from glatt store. Never had a problem coming in the mail.

It was my first shopping experience at aviglatt.com. I've bought everything I need for my Hanukkah party. And I also used a coupon code and got 25$ off my purchase. The prices are reasonable, and I couldn't see myself buying all these groceries offline, ‘cause the nearest 2 kosher supermarkets in Brooklyn are too crowded this time and going trough traffic jams to other ones before Christmas is a nightmare. They also sent me my delivery free so I benefited twice.
